This Grade II listed building of English garden wall bonded brick on a sandstone plinth with sandstone quoins was decimated in an arson attack causing significant damage to the majority of the interior and roof but significantly less damage to the main masonry elements.
Fasciato Architects were appointed to sensitively address the damage to the interior whilst creating a refurbished space which the landlord could market as a unique but contemporary commercial office space. Working closely with Conservation Officer, the spirit of the building was retained through careful detailing and specifications to allow the retention of the wattle and daub partitions, the principle oak central truss with brick infills and the original timber truss.
