Artisan Restaurant & Bar, Ribble Valley
Artisan Restaurant & Bar began with an ambition to transform an existing hotel restaurant into a destination in its own right, a contemporary and characterful venue offering a variety of dining and social experiences under one roof. Our clients approached us to reimagine the building completely, creating a standalone restaurant and bar with a first floor function space, roof terrace and covered outdoor dining.
From the outset, we developed the concept holistically, shaping not only the architecture but the entire interior identity. We selected fabrics, finishes, lighting, furniture and tableware, ensuring every detail contributed to a cohesive atmosphere. The aim was to create a space that felt fresh, welcoming and adaptable, capable of shifting from intimate dining to lively gatherings and special events.
The interior is organised into distinct zones, each defined through colour, ceiling height and furniture typology. Circular banquettes and low pendants create intimate dining pockets. A high level mezzo table near the bar encourages sociable interaction. Armchairs and low tables cluster around the fireplace where live music is performed. A mezzanine level provides a flexible function space for larger events. In the sports bar, plush sofas and coffee tables create a relaxed, informal setting. Every element, from paint colours and lighting to planting and even the placement of the Christmas tree, was carefully considered to ensure the space worked beautifully throughout the year.
To communicate the evolving vision, we produced detailed 3D interior visualisations, enabling the client, design team and contractors to understand the spatial relationships and atmosphere long before construction began.
Externally, the transformation is equally significant. The building’s appearance was refreshed to reflect the contemporary interior, and a new roof terrace and covered outdoor dining area extend the experience beyond the walls of the restaurant, making the most of its setting in the Ribble Valley.
We provided a full architectural, interior design and fit out service, delivering a cool, welcoming and memorable venue that elevates the dining and social experience. The result is a space that feels cohesive, confident and carefully crafted, a complete reinvention of the original building.
